Would you like a Neighbourhood Watch scheme

Last week was Neighbourhood Watch Week and prompted by this the Parish Council thought it would be a good idea to ask the residents whether they would like to see this scheme resurected once again. Today the Neighbourhood Watch schemes are more than just crime prevention and are a lot more about the community as a whole. Local Neighbourhood Watch schemes work in a variety of ways that reflect the needs of the local community. This includes: sharing crime prevention advice and information; running awareness campaigns; holding social events and awards for local people and businesses; leading community projects, such as litter picks, a community café, flood defence response, presentations in schools and work with young people and children and community messaging with the police.

If you would like to see a Neighbourhood Watch scheme once again in our village then we would love to hear your comments. You can respond by commenting on this post or by dropping an email to the clerk at clerk@greataddingtonparishcouncil.gov.uk We look forward to hearing your comments.

Help decorate our phone box to show our support for the NHS

As the village now owns the phone box we thought it might be nice in these difficult times to show our support for the NHS by decorating the window panels of the phone box with rainbows painted by our residents and their children. Each panel is 360mm x 170mm so if you would like to display your works of art on the inside using blue or white tack to hold it in place then please go ahead. As not everyone recieves these emails it would be nice to mention this to your neighbours in case they aren’t in touch. Remember please respect social distancing at all times.
