Emergency Road Closure- Ditchford Bridge, Irchester

Message below received from NNC

Kier Transportation working in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council are writing to inform you of an incident that occurred on Ditchford Bridge, Ditchford Lane, Rushden. This has resulted in an emergency road closure at this location. A fully signed diversion will be in place as soon as possible.

On 14th August 2024, a vehicle accidently hit and subsequently removed 6 meters of the masonry parapet on Ditchford Bridge. Due to this incident the bridge is not safe for highway users because of the now exposed drop to the embankment and river below. We are looking to see if the bridge can be safely reopened by installing protection measures where damaged has occurred, but until it has been fully assessed, the bridge will remain closed.  The bridge is a Scheduled Monument, which means we need to gain consent from Historic England before carrying out any work, including temporary measures. We have already engaged with Historic England, however, this process can take a significant amount of time to resolve.

Please allow enough time for your journeys, and we will update you in the coming days with further information.

Healthwatch – give us your views

Local Healthwatch provides a strong and independent public voice and is the primary public champion for both local health and social care systems. From 1 April 2025 North Northamptonshire Council will commission its own Healthwatch, separate from Healthwatch Northamptonshire which will no longer exist. We want to know what you think about these services in North Northamptonshire to help us shape a more local Healthwatch service, just for the people living within North Northamptonshire, that will improve the quality of the health and social care provision.

This Mature Drivers Roadshow is aimed at drivers 60+, and will cover all different aspects of driving. There will be a short talk and then plenty of time to meet informally with our many stand holders. Free advice will be available on car adaptions, eyesight, how your prescription medications may affect you, and much more.

Burial Reservation Policy

NNC operates 13 cemeteries across North Northamptonshire. Space is being used up and the way reserved plots are managed is inconsistent across our geographical areas, impacting our ability to manage the space. We are seeking your views on a proposed draft Burial Reservation Policy which will help us manage cemeteries and introduces a consistent approach, including a proposed fee structure.

Give us your views on Pharmaceutical Needs

We are carrying out some important research across the whole of Northamptonshire to find out how people feel about the current services they receive from local pharmacies. We would like people to tell us what pharmacy services they have locally available, what they need, and what is missing. This will help to identify gaps and give us the information we need to help us to commission improvements.

Neighbourhood Plan Consultation

We are now consulting on the Great Addington Neighbourhood Plan.  This week you will receive a leaflet telling you more about this.

The six-week consultation period is from 10th June to 22 July 2024.

The Great Addington Neighbourhood Plan has been developed by the local community, the people who know and love the area, rather than the local planning authority.  It is a powerful tool to ensure the community has more control and more say over development in our area.  Our final plan will be used by North Northants Council to help them decide whether to approve planning applications.

The Neighbourhood Plan and accompanying documents are available to view or download from the Neighbourhood Plan page of the Parish Council website.  You have an opportunity now to have your views represented. If you would like to send in comments please download and complete the Representation Form.

If you have any questions or have any problems accessing the consultation documents then please contact elaine.scott@greataddingtonparishcouncil.gov.uk or you can phone Elaine on 07989 493289.
